If you are getting a notice that you have a virus on your PC and to purchase a virus scanner, it is a SCAM. That is a spyware program flashing the message. You can get rid of it for free.

Run both Ad-aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaw... and Skybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/)...... to remove any spyware. Run both as one may caught something the other missing. Then go to microsoft.com and download Defender to protect against future infections. All are free programs.

You must be confused, what do you mean e-mail address your computer is using? And why do you need that to get a virus scan...? Repost another question with clarity.

The computer does not assign e-mail addresses - you do that when you open an account. The fact that you are in Yahoo Ask indicates that you got here by logging into Yahoo. I'm guessing you want Yahoo's pop-up blocker and anti-spy. They come with the Yahoo toolbar.

Try this link: http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0geuqFdVOZEiJsAQjNXNyoA/SIG=13rjmn06e/EXP=1156031965/**http%3a//search.yahoo.com/search%3fp=download%2byahoo%2btoolbar%26rs=0%26fr2=rs-top%26ei=UTF-8%26fr=slv1-

As for an antivirus program, I suggest you look for McAfee or Norton. Both are good.

This is a free antivirus program:

I don't know how its efficiency compares to a paid subscription.

the percentages are somewhat good that your pc isn't sending out the e-mail messages. Spammers have began making use of your e-mail manage as their "from" manage of their mailings. it is an rather undemanding thanks to mask who you actually are, and albeit, next to no longer a possibility to seek out who's doing it. and inspite of in case you probably did discover them, there's a good probability that they are remote places meaning you're literally not truly going to be able to do something about it. (Boy do not this merely suck) the in uncomplicated words ingredient you may truly do is to regulate your e-mail manage. in the different case, stay with it ... it frequently doesn't very last more effective than a month (a minimum of it hasn't for me). i have had this happen to me numerous cases ... the exhilaration of having the same e-mail manage for 11 years now. :-) good luck.
