This may not be your problem, but who knows...
Is the noise mostly noticed when driving at slow speed and turning...like in a parking lot? If so it could be the tire bead itching on the wheel. Bump the tire pressure up to about 45 psi and see if it affects the noise.
!999-2002 Grand Am and Alero had a problem with 16" Goodyear Eagle tires that would make what sounds like a grinding noise. Cleaning of the wheel and tire replacement will correct it.

I just thought I needed to reiterate, this is not a joke at all. Don't drive the car. I had a shop fail to replace a cotter pin and I had a wheel fall off on the road. Your cars suspension is very important, if it fails at high speeds you WILL be in a very serious accident.
This problem could be a couple of things. I'd say jack up the whole front end of the car and wiggle the wheels forward and back with your left hand at 9 o'clock and your right at 3 o'clock. You should have ZERO MOVEMENT. If the wheel moves then you're most likely looking at a bad inner tierod bushing, a power steering rack or maybe even a tierod end.
(I think on a '02 GA you'll have the tierod end bolt down into the rear-most arm (for lack of a better term) on the strut. The tierod end (AKA "Outer Tierod") is connected to the inner, which is then connected to a large tube that is your power steering rack.)

This feels like your force part axle. Which wide-spread even as they flow undesirable will reason a click noise in the time of turning. as far because the idle situation. Ive seen on some automobiles they're going to unplug the battery in the course of the oil change and once its reconnected some automobiles take longer to "recalibrate" the settings. different automobiles see no topics with this.

If it is not your brake grinding then have the bearings check. That's what it sounds like to me.

Drive your car 4-5 miles than stop somewhere and than touch where you think the noise is coming from.
Careful if it is a bad bearing it will be hot..

if it's front wheel drive, could be the CV joint axle.
Check the rubber boot that covers it. if it's ripped or torn, the grease may have run out of it.
Re-check the inner and outer bearings.
