Bill Withers origninally sang this song(1971). He also wrote the lyrics and music. Check out this site to see all that sang it. It is really quite neat...it has been sung by Michael Jackson, Crystal Gayle, Issac Hayes, Paul McCartney, Sting, Michael Bolton, and many many more.....I fell in love with this song in the movie Notting Hill.
