I have 35 shares of a blue chip stock that has been sitting in unclaimed property for 30 years.

The shares themselves do not generate interest, so I would assume only the value of the stocks.

for example, 30 years ago you buy 35 share of company A for 10/share, now it is 30/share.. You will get 30*35=1050, but you will pay capital gain on 700, because your basis is 300, sell 1050
so the gain is 700, you paid tax on the long term capital gain
