water pump, collapsed radiator hose, bad temp gauge, old antifreeze, fans not working, bad fan relays, timing belt as timing could be off causing detonation, dirty engine, bad radiator cap, cracked head, air pocket by the thermostat drill hole in thermostat housing to aleviate this, clogged water passages in block, does it leak maybe freeze plug popped out, anything blocking flow of air thru radiator

Check the hoses, especially the bottom one, and replace if needed. It should have a spring in it to keep it from collapsing, sometimes the spring rusts away. Also look for leaves or anything else blocking the air flow. Make sure the fan comes on (for electric cooling fans.)

try flushing the block. also check the hoses to see if they are separated and collapsing. check the timing see that it is on spec. check the oilpressure. water pump impeller may b spinning on shaft. pressure cap may leaking. look for exhaust leak into the water jacket on those cars the head gasket can blow and let exhaust into the coolant without leaking the compression off.good luck

You still have the water pump, intake gasket and around 10 hoses to check.

Make sure water pump is good, take care to bleed ALL air from cooling system and heater. This could be a faulty gauge -- mechanic can measure temp with handheld thermometer to be certain.

Water pump! or fan relay switch is activating your fan to cool down your radiator.

It could be a clogged catalytic converter, or some other problem with the exhaust.
