I used to hate that. And Black people do it to themselves! Don't you realize when you tell someone Black, that they are acting white, you're actually saying that you think they act better in some way? That's putting your own race down. Like you're ashamed in some way.
I used to get told that I talked like I was white all through school. Who said that whites have cornered the market on proper speech?
We should all strive to speak properly in order to be understood by all.
Oh, my brothers and sisters. WAKE UP!
For you are surely asleep on that one.

Acting white (from the looks of it) is being friendly with white people, talking like you are educated, not thinking that every non-black is out to get you, and hanging out with mixed crowds instead of all black ones.

We are all human beings so it doesn't matter what you are and how you act. Be proud of your heritage and be your self. You know who you are. The next time some one tells you that you act a certain way and they don't like it, tell them that you are being who you are and they don't have the right to tell you how to act or question how you act.

Some ppl associate "acting white" with speaking proper English and having good manners. I wouldn't even associate with ppl who feel that way and if I had to deal with them I would ask them why they think so lowly of themselves as black ppl.

Hmm...I think that people like to take a certain group of people, like preps, and say...okay--these people act white. Then people like to take another group, say gangsters, and say they act black. This really has absolutely NOTHING to do with skin color, just hasty generalization. I would ignore it, be yourself and forget about stereotyping!

Nothing. It's just cultural bias and pre-fabricated idea of how a black person or a white persons hould act..

It is all so crazy......don't pay any attention to them! seems like some people have a problem with others if they are proper when they speak and refuse to use slang that's all. I hear it all the time too.

Actually, I'm black, but other blacks make fun of me because I'm an anime otaku and a nerd. Ignore those ignoramuses.

just be who u r. as long as u're comfortable with urself, whatever anybody says shouldn't matter. acting like something u're not can make things hard in some situations.
