No. My parents never approved and I married anyway. All it caused was more stress over the years. After the kids came along things just got worse. Do not get married unless the parents approve.

Are you close to your parents? Is your Boyfriend close to his? Family is everything in this world, but when we get married that is our new family. However, sometimes older people see things that younger people don't. Why not have a longer engagement and try to win both parents over?

Well, I agreed, and my husband agreed, and his parents agreed, but mine didn't, but they let us do our own thing (I was 20, he was 25) and now, ten years later, I wish I had listened to my mom. Sigh. Mother knows best, as does Father. Maybe you should ask WHY they don't agree, and be open about it. Seriously, it could save you some major heart ache.

No. I couldn't marry if my parents didn't agree. They're very good when it comes to anything really. So I trust their judgement.

If you love that person and your family does not understand your love for each other, I would say go for it because your family will always be there for you no matter what decision you make. If your family does not stick by your side then you should decide who you should choose.

trust your parents they see a bigger picture than you do and have your best intentions at heart vs lust and love and all those confusing hormones. They just want you happy and if they are worried about you there is a good reason.
