The best question i have answerd so far...There is no reason...It has been built up in our minds that those CERTAIN places are shocking and should be hidden...if we were nude all the time then there wouldnt be such a shock value when someone shows something just like cussing and so on...I think we should all be nude...Except for fat people...

Body modesty is the wish or requirement not to expose too much of the human body; this applies to the bare skin, but also to hair and to the display of undergarments, and especially to the intimate parts; it involves not only covering body parts, but also obscuring their shape. It is accomplished by suitable clothing, special ways of changing clothes (see beach), closing or locking the door when changing or taking a shower, etc.; it varies according to who could see it, with categories such as

spouse, partner,
friend or family of the same sex,
strangers of the same sex,
friends or family including those of the opposite sex,
people of the same social class,
people in general.

Modesty is conditioned by culture, and also by occasion and who is present.

Western culture in general requires the intimate parts of the body to be covered in public places at all times. Exceptions are made for situations such as public changing rooms, which tend to be single-sex venues, and saunas, which tend to be mixed-sex venues.

Other cultures, such as some African cultures and traditional Australian aboriginal culture have far less requirement for modesty, though how much exposure is acceptable varies greatly.

My guess is that in prehistroy sometime, humans realized that the reproductive organs are more vulnerable to injury than other parts, and that especially in males, all that gear hanging out there in the breeze needed support and protection. Then, since sex and reproduction was involved, and one of our strongest biological urges, it was necessary to ritualize sex and mating so that a community wasn't in chaos over sex and children. A village or clan needs to know whose children are whose. To protect this and to defend virginity, it was best to cover up.

coz they can easily sex one another.
let's take it for example:
the woman is queuing up n the man is behind her suddenly the pple behind him pushes him. den OMG! his private part went into the woman thing. so that's why we need to hide them for safe n secure.

or maybe they're too shy n feel disgusted to show it to the public.
follow the laws, dude...

we have been conditioned to believe that those bits are private. I think it should be just like an elbow or ear. Don't give them special treatment and no one will freak when they see them.

Because A.P.E. said so. If you haven't read it, go to a used bookstore or the local library and see if you can find "Rape of the Ape" by the guy who sang Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah. A.P.E. stands for American Puritan Ethnic.
