I thought this film was very good. Some of the scenes were difficult to watch but for the people who say its a work of fiction you do not know anything about Irish history. There were awful atrocities done to the Irish people - look at the black and tans for instance..(I'd stake my life that the English history lessons are completely different to the Irish ones)I am not English bashing(even though it sounds like it)but I think these type of films need to be made to remind us of our own history and how we got where we are in life today

I haven't seen it, but I read the blurb and it sounds painful and difficult to watch.

It's about a really depressing situation, I suppose its a lot like watching 2 hours of east enders.

It was just very very dull. And I think the politics got in the way too much, as if often the case with Ken Loach's films.
Lovely to look at though.

I 've not seen it but what I've heard about the film leads me to believe its only a work of fiction so do't get to hung up on it .
