For the past five years, I've seen more debates over religion and democracy than anything else. Now if I were to go the off beaten track of reading the media other than manistream, I find the total opposite.

Why must we put up with the nonsense of stupidity...

My parents never told me to keep my mouth shut about what I know about religion and politics :P...in fact, before 9-11 happend I was never damned a terriorist for knowing about ISLAM. Ever since then, knowing about the truth of ISLAM and CHRISTIANITY has but me on the hotseat of a lot of debates...

PS: Half my family believes in ISLAM, the other half either believes in CHRISTIANITY or BUDISIM, or something else...

It is because after 9/11 everyone suddenly became an expert on Islam. Till then they didn't know that such a religion existed. The right-wing Christian movement took advantage of that to discuss and impose their authority by creating fear through lies.

Since I have PayTV, there are literally hundreds of crappy "woman in peril" movies starring the likes of Alexandra Paul, Elizabeth Berkeley, Jolene Blalock and others of which I have seen as much as five or ten minutes of (and in some cases, the same five or ten minutes twenty or thirty times). There are also movies like House of Wax, or Captivity that I've tried to watch, but couldn't make it all the way through, even for Elisha Cuthbert. However, I think that in order to qualify, it has to be a bad movie you've actually watched from start to finish. Going by that criterion, the worst movie I've actually watched the whole movie of is probably Alien vs. Predator.

Because our President has used and catered to most Christian religions for support and votes. He uses various "causes" to divert the public from issues that should concern everybody. He has created a division that may never end by nosing up to the Jerry Falwells, Pat Robertson and the mega-media access , that are paid for by tax free funds. It is stupidity, but it's here to stay until we get a President and Administration that recognize the importance of a secular government.

Have you noticed the attacks come from the Democrats/Liberals? And it's not debates over "religion", it's debates over Christ, Christians, and Christianity. All the other religions are praised. Makes you think, doesn't it? If Christianity isn't the Truth, why is it the one that receives the majority of the attacks?

Maybe you just started noticing in the last 5 years? I can only tell you that this has gone on since the dawn of time. Why did your parents always caution the family at reunions and gatherings, "No talk of politics or religion now, we are going to enjoy this meal!"? See you remember that.

Because we the people, as a society and as thinking humans, are learning more and more everyday about the dangers of religion. It is simply the beginning of a revolution against religion (or at least religios intolerance, dominance, and the likes).

I think that some people are just offended when someone says "Christ", "Jesus", or any of the other numerous names for the God of Christianity, unless of course, its using the names in vane. They are, for whatever reason, so offended by these names that they want to make it to where the names can not be used anymore. I think that it is a problem with the people offended, and they just get way too much publicity.

It is yet another example of the fascism of the left and their intolerance. Religion does not fit into their social regimentation scheme that they are trying to impose on all of society.

I, admittedly, am an atheist, but consider myself both tolerant of religion and respectful of its history and importance to the founding principles of our nation.

When I'm with a group of people and they want to say a prayer before a meal or something, I simply bow my head in respect for them. I'm confident enough in myself and my own beliefs that I don't have to worry about them trying to convert me or something. The fascist left, however, in the same situation throws a fit and claims they are under attack. It's all part of their 'grand plan.'

Yep. Just one of the many irrational polarized debates in this country.

The two loud sides of the argument are: (1) my religion is right, and so everyone should have to do what it says; and (2) I don't care whether you believe your religion or not, I don't and you can't tell me what to do.

The pro-religion side argues that if they don't get to impose their religion on everyone else, it someone is an imposition on their rights. What they don't seem to understand is that nobody is telling them that THEY can't follow their religion. They just can't force anyone else to. But sadly, they can't seem to realize that.

I say they, meaning only those fundamentalists and fanatics who are trying to impose their religion on others. I'm not talking about the vast population of the faithful who are happy just following their own religion without needing to impose it on everyone else.
