If you allowed between $1000 to $1500 per 500 square feet of living area you'll have a reasonable range for a budget. For example, a 1500 square foot home might cost between $3000 to $4500 for a new gas furnace and a/c system.

This number could increase substantially if you require new ductwork, electrical wiring, and/or refrigerant piping.

I live in northern Minnesota and had a Trane A/c and Trane Furnace installed for $5300.00 two years ago

I installed one two years ago and with some ductwork it cost $3800.
