well you say the computer is Windows vista capable. ok now windows vista will work but you may end up with everything gone on your hard drive when you install windows vista cos it does a clean install even the windows vista beta that is on the microsoft website for free download you burn in on to a cd and then install it but that does a clean install so you lost everything on your hard drive so if you dont have a systhem restore back up cd that came with your computer its best if you dont update

Go to Microsoft web site and download a program I guess it is called vista compatibility install it on your computer it will check the hardware and the software and will tell you if your computer is ready for vista or not, I guess the title you should be looking for says what you should know before installing windows vista.
Good luck

Don't buy vista when it comes out. Always wait at LEAST a year before upgrading to a new O.S. Give microsoft a chance to work out at least some of the security holes and bugs.

Don't pay to be a beta tester.

your video card needs to be supported too. check the vista site to see the list of supported graphics cards. you can just upgrade your computer instead of doing a clean install.
