I think its strong on most people. Or else companies would not be spending so much on Ads, would they? And one only has to walk into a shopping mall or Casino or some other high commerce driven place to realize it.
The power to attrack people and condition them to take certain actions like buying a product is used by marketing teams all over the world everyday.

The truth is I believe the power of suggestions works because when I was unable to get ahold of a doctor when my son had an earache in the middle of the night, I gave him a vitamin C and told him it would heal him right up and he would sleep like a baby. And he did. The doctor said it was called the "placebo effect". He called back hours later after my son was asleep.

I think it can be very powerful.
If a person is sleep deprived or has had something that traumatically gave them the predisposition to be frightened into or just suggestively led into the direction another wants them to go they will do it without any qualms.

Extremely strong. Watch your words when you speak. Even jokes can become a reality. Ex.: I would give my right hand for that....watch your hand in a few days, bet you get a cut!

think of it as something simple...say there is a new movie out and you ask someone who saw it how it was...they answer it was good...that can mean 2 different things that it was in fact good or they can say it sarcastically meaning that it wasn't good...now you apply that same idea to even bigger things than just a movie

it's pretty strong, especially when the best "suggestions" are given with something to make the person overly emotional. that's when the fun begins.

I think the less you are able to reason or to analyse the more susceptible to suggestion.
