In 1993 I accompanied a casket carrying my Father across country for burial in his home town. We flew Delta Airlines and I can't imagine being treated better. I had a small note book and kept the names and events that occurred on the trip. It took three pages to express all I wanted to say to the corporate executives. It was an absolutely fabulous flight and everyone was wonderful. On the trip home I was just another passenger but that was just fine.

A few years later I did the same thing for my Mother. The difference in the two flights could not have been greater. The whole staff had simply gone down the tubes. The worst thing was when I saw a ground handler kick my mother's coffin to straighten it on the conveyor (that incident haunts me to this day). I wrote another letter. It was much shorter and not nearly as nice. I received a $100 coupon for a future flight. I wrote another short letter and cut the coupon into small pieces, just large enough so that who ever opened it could figure out what it was. I never heard another word from Delta and I haven't been on one of their planes since. And I wouldn't fly Delta if their was any other choice.

My family all went out for dinner for my parents' anniversary to a super-nice restaurant and were treated extremely well. Once the $750 check arrived, we realized why they were being so kind to the 10 of us at dinner. :) Also, after both of my knee surgeries, my family and friends have been extremely kind to me. After the last surgery, a group of about 10 friends showed up and made dinner at my house and sat there visiting with me since I couldn't really get about. It may have been just at home, but it was really nice.

Served as in someone waiting on me or served as in that dance/movie thing? Now days served takes on so many meanings. Can you give me "context clues" here?

No, but I heard some people say that I was playing like a count, at least I think that's what they said.
