Chamomile or Sleepytime Tea by Celestial Seasonings is nice. B-complex vitamins are good with overall nerve function. However for something that will work quicker you can try Kava Kava Root or Valerian Root. Also you may want to start taking Calcium and Magnesium. They help alkanize your system and soothe your nerves.

Chamomile is good but I find it rather mild as a relaxant.Other herbs that i use for bedtime teas are passionflower, lemon balm and hops(if you try hops tea it is not an appetizing taste) You can also use Valerian , another herb that helps you to relax and sleep. I use the liquid supplement for this herb, two dropperfuls at bedtime.Tea made from Valerian tastes dreadful and is not recommended so if using this one buy the liquid extract available in health food stores. The other herbal teas are available also in health food stores or sometimes natural food markets.

Try the following combination - scullcap, passionflower, oat tops, chamomile, eleuthero, and a very small amount of valerian. You can probably get this mixed at your local herb store. Use two teaspoons per cup of hot water. Let steep for 10 minutes.
In response to the earlier suggestion of melatonin, I would avoid it. It is a brain chemical and very little is known about it and the pineal gland that produces it. In my opinion, you are much better off to encourage the body to make its own rather than hijacking it with an isolated chemical.

Kava Kava is the strongest herb for relaxing but you shouldn't use it if you have liver disease because it takes the liver a while to process it. If you do have liver disease, Wood Betony is relaxing and also beneficial to the liver.
