the basic wage in metro manila right now is 300 pesos plus 50 cola(cost of living allowance) per day. a months salary with a day off (26 days a month) would come to around 9,100 pesos. but most people pay their household staff to around 3,000 to 4,000 pesos a month considering that everything from food, toiletries and other needs are taken cared by the employers.

Big manufacturing companies like Procter & Gamble, Unilever, Colgate-Palmolive hire at around P30,000 for entry level positions in the marketing and brand management positions. Salaries go up depending on your tenure and your performance. Some mid-level executives I know at P&G earn P200,000 a month, that is a little over US$4,000 a month, excluding perks like travel, car plan, and other allowances. This is the salary of my niece who has been with the company for less than 10 years. Some employees with a college degree earn minimum wages that can hardly cover their own cost of living. This is because jobs are scarce and there is an over-supply of graduates looking for jobs. But exemplary students from top schools like UP, La Salle or Ateneo do not have as much difficulty looking for work. Sometimes, they end up choosing between 2 or 3 job offers. They also move up rather fast..

My sister in law pays her housemaids around 2000-3000 pesos each. The sad part is that they could be very flaky and might run away after you pay them in advance. Some do steal a lot of belongings when they leave.

The average person receives about 2.00 us dollars a day or about 120-200 Phil pesos. 100 dollars a month would be fare, yet id pay that person more because a Philippine is worth dying for, worth their weight in gold.
