It all depends on what issue you are talking about. Men are naturally more capable of physically lifting more weight (although some women can do the same thing). In that case, women are not equal of men.

But in the case of childbirth, women reign supreme!

But in terms of intellect, caring, and compassion, most women are the equal (or even superiors) of men.

No, men and women are not equal. That's the realistic fact of the matter. Society is trying to even the playing field, but no matter what, due to nature, we are not equal.

Let's say you have two people going for the same position - a male and a female. Both have the exact same background, strengths, heck, are pretty much the exact same employee but the fact of their differing genders. So the guy tends to get favored by the supervisors (more than likely men) because...well he's a guy. However the female DOES have something up her sleeves and she can play that card when...she wears the right combination of clothes. Maybe a f'ed up concept, but it's reality. Sure, guys are looked upon in a better light for the most part, however, we do have something to help us even the playing field a bit.

Men and Women are equal in many aspects. Women can do pretty much everything that men are able to do. They are just as smart and just as intelligent. They do however lack a few things that men take advantage of. Strength in one aspect. Men also lack things that women have. I personally believe women are more emotional and are less likely to hurt others. Women should be given a chance to solve problems that men have been struggling to fix for thousands of years. Who knows. Women have only gained some what of a freedom only for a century. They might as well surpass men in dealing with everyday world problems and make the world a much safer place. I coulld've said more but I dont want to over do it :) Thanks.

I believe all persons are equal. jesus treated women kindly in a society that didn't. I believe we have different roles to fill.
Men go into mines and build sky scrapers and the majority are the builders and creators. But I also believe Women make good teachers, work well with children and are good at designing dresses and even men's clothes.
I like the variety of people. Both men and women.
Instead of trying to deside who is the boss, who is the most important. Lets just start to realize we all have a role to play in this world. Start respecting each other.

In the eyes of the law, yes. If you break a law you should be held reliable just the same as everyone else.

However, I do believe that there are some things most men/women are naturally better at than most women/men.

no men and women are not equal. I don't think one gender is better than the other, but men and women are not equal. We think differently, we have different strengths and weaknesses which cannot change no matter how hard we try.

Men can do certain things better than women, and vice versa. Try to get a woman to kill a spider, or try to get a man to have a baby. It just ain't gonna happen!

For the most part, yes, but it just depends on what they are equal for. Some things, women are just better and others for men.

They are definitely both to be respected with the same amount of dignity. I think what people don't understand alot of the times is that men and women inherently have strengths and weaknesses that the opposite gender might not have. Women are prone to be more emotional. Men are prone to think more rationally.

We're all equal... we just have to embrace our differences... appreciate them in one another... and never feel that one strength is better than another. Without diversity things would be pretty boring.

Yes ! men and women are equal. As long as they respect each others nature and differences. We all know that, we are equal but we keep pinching, comparing, putting down each others.
Men without women and women with men are just incomplete.

Well I think that contrary to popular opinion there are certain jobs men are better suited for than women, and vice versa. For instance, men are better as fire fighters and medics, women are better as receptionists or any heavily social occupation. Division of labor along gender lines has been a rule in most human cultures throughout the millenia and I think that the attempts to abolish these divisions are causing harm to family relationships. That being said, different doesn't mean unequal. Just better suited.
