I don't think it's anything perverted. I was just curious because that happened to me today at my job. The guy walked over to me and said, "When I was in here the other day I saw you, but I was too busy to stop and talk. So I wanted to tell you that I thought you have the prettiest smile. You're just so precious!" Of course it was a very nice compliment and I thanked him, but it left me wondering what "precious" is supposed to mean. I've been told lots of things before, but "precious" was never one of them. I'm assuming he was just being nice and politely complimenting me. What do you think?

Well, on one hand it was nice, then on the other hand it was kind of creepy. It sounds like he made it a point to come over to talk to you to tell you that you were precious, if it were nothing more than that he would have waited till he ran into you in passing. But take it for what it is worth. Let me tell you I was a bank teller for many years and I always had creepy old men hitting on me and sometimes it would blind side me and I wouldn't know what to say, but just be nice and drop it. Because if you are sweet to him all the time he will think that you are interested, trust me. I know that you may think that he's cute cause he's older but usually there is an ulterior motive. Good Luck and God Bless!

~~ Absolutely no way the guy was hitting on you. I'm 43. If I said that to someone, even a highly attractive twenty something, it would mean no more than 'cute'. 'Precious' implies that he holds himself superior to you, and looks on you as a child. I wouldn't really take it as a compliment. (Even if the reality is that he was belittleing you because deep inside he DOES find you attractive, outwardly, he has distanced himself from you, and placed himself 'above' you. Also, older men get a kick out of saying the things they were too scared to say when they were young...

~~ My two cents. I could be wrong. Without seeing facial expression or body language, this type of exchange is very hard to judge...

If it only happened the once, I would take it as a compliment and move on. But if he continues to come back and make comments like that, he's a dirty old man and I'd be careful. Compliments are always nice, but sometimes they aren't meant with the best intentions....good luck!

Precious means that you are one of a kind. That you are just too beautiful. It's not perverted.

I still would be worried I"ve been getting the most totally ridiculous compliments on line these past 4 weeks.

Maybe he means you are pretty, maybe he means you are an ASSet on the job, who knows precious is a very ambiguous term

Yes, I think he was just complimenting you, not trying to hit on you. It was probably more like a father-to-daughter comment (i.e. fathers usually think they're daughters are "precious")...

It means he wants to get into your pants. How well does he know you that he can say you are "precious" to him?
That term usually means, "dear", or "sweet", or whaterver.
Sounds like he needs to tell his wife that.

He's hitting on you; an ambiguous comment like that means he's waiting to see how you respond. You don't need that kind of garbage.
