That is strictly subjective but I would have to say 12 Angry Men. It was incredible and brought together the most powerful and talented stars of that time.

If you mean a real play, go with Thorton Wilder's "Our Town". For the best musical, "A Chorus Line" or "The Fantastiks".

Phantom of the Opera, Funny girl, West side story. I guess the best for me was Funny girl.

If you mean a play: than I would say "A Raisin in the Sun" or "The Glass Menagerie."

If by play you mean musical (which most would not include in the term play) than I would say Les Miserables.
