You are never too old to learn how to play an instrument. Learning to play an instrument requires massive will power and a drive to see through your goals. You should keep your goals small and attainable: in one week you should stick to trying to be able to make a consistent sound, in the second week learn how the valves manipulate the pitch, the third and fourth week, master playing one scale. . . so on and so forth. I strongly suggest having a guide to teach you the ins and outs of playing trumpet. This doesnt mean that you need a $50/hr. trumpet proffesor: just find a trumpet player you know and ask him to help you. Good luck and be true to yourself and you will never be dissapointed!

This is amazing! Just yesterday I rented a violin. I've never played a violin before in my life, but now I can play most of "Home on the Range". I still don't know how much rosin to use.
Go ahead, play the trumpet. Your never to old to learn an instrument (unless your REALLY old and feeble, a brass instrument kill you).

It's never too late to learn. Grab some brass, get a good teacher, practice every single day, and make a joyful noise. Music is one of life's greatest pleasures. The very air will be your artist's canvas.
