Hi, I just moved into my college apartment at USC, and since I don't have a car I'm walking a lot more than I ordinarilly do. My tennis shoes are really comfortable, but I hate to have to wear them EVERYDAY, especially because they look really dumb with skirts and such. I was wondering if anyone could suggest any comfortable brands or types of flip flops/female footwear. A lot of my flip flops are that plastic material that rubs after awhile, and many of my other shoes are cheaply made from payless. I have horrible blisters after only 2 days! I don't mind splurging on shoes, but I want to be assured they will be comfortable for walking around if I'm going to pay a lot. So any suggestions on brands, types of material etc. would be greatly appreciated...tell me about YOUR comfortable shoes!
Also, if you know of any creams for blisters, or adhesive pads or something to prevent them on the shoes I already have, that would help too. THANKS!

The Dr. Scholl's products have a whole whack of stuff to use to prevent blisters. But there's nothing wrong with wearing tennis shoes. Some of them cost 'way more than ordinary shoes, but they are kind to your feet and if you are walking to class, you don't need to have sore feet once you get there.
Once you get on campus, you'll find most of your peers are wearing good, solid running shoes.
Once upon a time, runners may have been regarded as 'dumb' with skirts, but not any more.
You can, if you wish, get a leather version of runners that looks a little dressier but still provides good support for your foot. But the leather shoes don't breathe as well as the regular running shoes.
PS: For the next little while, focus your thoughts on what you are putting in your head, not what you are putting on your feet. It will be more rewarding in the long run, and after you graduate, you can afford a whole wardrobe of shoes, because you'll be qualified for a well-paying and interesting job.
Good luck to you!

If you want to stay with flip-flops get Reef brand. They are around $25 but totally worth it! They are so incredibly comfy. Sandal and shoe wise I suggest Birkenstock. They are the most comfortable shoe I've found. They are totally worth the price. If you have an outlet mall around you, there might be a Birk's store there. I got a pair of sandals from QVC (of all places)at a really good price. Trainer wise I like New Balance. I have slightly wide feet and they are the most comfortable for me.

Crocs are awesome - they are the most comfortable shoes in the world. You can order them from crocs.com - and yes, they make flip flops. I am a nurse, on my feet for twelve hours at a stretch, and they work fine for me - no foot pain at all, and much less problems with joints than before I started wearing them. You can pad the impact points on your foot where the blisters are with moleskin until they are healed, and you can use it to stop blisters from forming. Neosporin is the best thing for blisters once they have popped, and until they pop, just leave them open to air, since they are sterile, and make sure you have neosporin and band-aids with you at all times.

I hear you you have to take care of your feet they hold you up. Dr Scholls has made some pads you can slip under your feet before you put your shoes on to help with calluses and blisters, he always has a great foot cream and soak that you can use it should really help you. AND FOR YOUR SHOES FLIP FLOPS ARE NOT GOOD FOR ALOT OF WALKING COMPARED TO POPULAR BELIEF, THERE COMFORTABLE BUT NOT FOR ALOT OF WALKING LIKE YOU GO IN BE DOING, SO YOU MIGHT WANT TO TRY BALLERINA SHOES THERE STYLISH BUT YET COMFORTABLE OR JUST [PLAIN FLATS ATE GOOD AND THERE POPULAR KNOW YOU CAN GET THEM IN EVER COLOR.

Aerosoles
I Love Comfort
Birkenstock
They make these little curved pad to stick in your shoes to keep them from rubbing blisters. Look for them with the Dr. Shoals stuff.

Try Dr.Sholls, his line of products might have something for your blisters. And also Vans have a lot of cute colors and patterns if your skirts are casual and not dress up consider some of those. Then you can consider the Birkenstock's or aerosoles. And try Keds also

Blisters were a phase of running with me. For a while, I'd get blisters for no apparent reason. Until I started using vaseline before every run. Eventually, you stop the vaseline and no more blisters either....

Here' a tip I have shared with all my Friends (who still love me for it) and that I still use today:
***When you get a new pair of leather shoes put them on your feet and stand in a bath tub fulll of warm water long enough to get them really soaked. Leave them on and walk around for at least an hour (Make sure they are dry b-4 taking off ) The shoes will dry to mold the individual shape of your foot.

the most comfortable flip flops i have found are from american eagle outfitters....they arent the most cheap but they last longer and domt wear out and if you have a pair of shoes that rub on your feet causing blisters, line the inside of the shoe (closed shoes only) with bandaids sticky side down....it helps i am a high school student and this helps me get through the day

I agree with Julia L. Crocs are the most comfortable shoes in the world. Its like getting a foot massage everytime you step and since they have a bunch of holes in them your feet don't sweat. They are a bit ugly though. I wouldn't wear them to the prom.
