5a - 2/3 = 1/6
6(5a - 2/3) = 1
30a - 4 = 1
30a = 1 + 4
30a = 5
a = 5/30
a = 1/6

x/3 - 1/2 = -5/2
2(x/3 - 1/2) = -5
2x/3 - 1 = -5
2x/3 = -5 +1
2x/3 = -4
2x = -4 multiply 3
2x = -12
x = -12/2
x = 6

1) Multiply by 6
30a-4=1
30a=5
a=1/6

2) Multiply by -6
2x + 3 = 15
2x = 12
x = 6

You solve these all the same.
First put all the known numbers on the same side of the equal sign.
Ex. 2x + 4 = 6
-4 =-4
This leaves 2x=2.
You want just one of the varialbe left so divide or multiply accordingly.
2x/2=2/2
x=1
Remember that whatever you do to one side of the equal sign you need to do to the other.
No apply these principles to your problem.

While I will not give you an answer, you may want to find a common denominator. This should help you out.
