Yes, I was very, very nervous. I took it when I was 25. I took the test 3 times before I finally passed. I could hardly sleep the night before each test! On the day of my 4th test, I meditated silently for a few minutes while waiting in the car before the test examiner arrived. He was very patient, and personable, BUT, also all business at the same time. Like someone else said, no matter, how personable or ok an examiner seems, he/she is still all business and you should always be prepared to do the best you can (such as observing all signs, right of way, making sure you signal, hazards, weather conditions, etc). Plus, get a good night's sleep if possible and take vitamins (if you regularly do so) and eat something beforehand so you can be as alert as possible. Also, arrive at the test location on time or even a little early if possible since you don't know how many people are ahead of you. Just relax and remember what you have learned. I found that relaxing before the test as well as being highly alert helped me finally pass! That was 10 years ago and I just bought my second car! You'll be okay! I wish you luck!

Oh boy was I! I almost sick to my stomach. I did pass, my first time even. Just relax and pay attention to what you're doing. Make sure you review your maneuvers before you go. Make sure you know the proper way to do your maneuvers. If you get so nervous you forget while you're on the road test, just relax and think about it. Your body will remember what to do, if you get stuck a lot of time you will do it correctly.
Now for the other side of the coin. I AM a driving examiner. I see people all day long who are nervous. I always joke with them a bit to help them relax, but like other people noted, I am all business, and am taking notes and paying attention not only to you, but also all the things around. Most people fail to signal properly, do their head checks and stop in the appropriate spot. Look those up in your handbook if you dont know what I'm talking about.
Hopefully you've been driving a while on your learner permit, just being comfortable driving the car is a big part of it.
I'd say about 2/3 of people I test do not pass their first time. So, if you don't, you're not alone.
I'd love to know how you do!

Yeah, I was a lil nervous, but I had been driving with just a learner's for a while. So, of course, I passed the first time!

It was very long ago but NO!
When the officer got in my car he was very friendly, occasionally commenting about the car, minor chit chat etc . I thought he was pretty cool & I thought I had it made.
When the test was over, I found out even though he was friendly, he was still all business & was making mental notes about my mistakes.
Luckily I didn't make too many mistakes or at least he didn't count them against me.
Moral to this story: Pay attention to what you are doing during the test even if the test grader is "friendly". He/she still has a job to do!

I was so nervous (people in uniform freak me out for some reason) that I failed the first two times and finally passed on the third. :)
