The xbox 360 has greater graphics processing ability while the nintendo wii is better suited and targeted towards younger children. You can check out the various games that are available for both. You should consider the number of games that are available for each system. Nintendo systems had fewer US released games than Microsoft's Xbox previously. I would recommend you take a look at http://www.gametrailers.com or http://www.ign.com.
If price is an issue, then the Xbox 360 is a more expensive system. Another thing to note is that Nintendo tends to make systems that have little to no loading time whereas larger games for the Xbox 360 will sometimes take more than a minute to load.

First of all, Nintendo Wii has a way better price point being that its a whole new system. 20 years of Nintendo History capable, little or no load times, great games, and motion sensor controllers. It's small & squared off so it can fit anywhere...I have to say that the Wii is gonna be the ultimate party machine! It's also gonna have over 20(30 by what I see)games in the system's launch, and a steady flow of games. I would say Wii even though its not out yet.

Wii is not out yet. but what I saw at E3, Wii owns. Don't get me wrong i like Xbox also. Wii has a new way to play games. We live them this time. It has been confirmes yesterday that if you swing Wii mote while playing Zelda, Link swing his sword. That is awesome.
Now at the time where Wii is not out. Xbox 360 pwns.
I think is how the next gen wars will be like after all the systems are out
