I have some friends, but I don't know what to do with them. It doesn't help that I don't drink and most people my age drink a lot. What do friends normally do?

So what, you think not drinking means you have a social disorder? Sorry, I know I'm making light of you problem, but you'll have to be a little bit more detailed if you want advice. But not being a party animal doesn't make you abnormal--I don't drink, and I don't really like to be around most people who do, which makes me something of a loner in my town; but I don't tear myself up over it, and neither should you. Find some friends like yourself and hang out with them.

look at this definition friend
n.
A person whom one knows, likes, and trusts.
A person whom one knows; an acquaintance.
A person with whom one is allied in a struggle or cause; a comrade.
One who supports, sympathizes with, or patronizes a group, cause, or movement:
just because you do not drink does not mean u can't be a friend. remember friends don't let friends drink and drive. You can be the designated driver for them and you can still hang out with them and if they are your friend they would not pressure u to do anything u don't want to do and a good friend will not back down from getting keys if need be

Do you know you have a social disorder? Maybe you feel isolated because you think that others need to drink to have fun or be friendly. Lots of people go out and do everything without alcohol. Sports, hiking, club or volunteering activities, even go to "singles nights" to meet others for dating and friendship.

Maybe try a local chat room of your interest and see what others are into. You may strike gold. good luck!

HAH! Lol... oh man, you think not being able to make freinds is a disorder?? Good gosh, this is the real world here. This is not a sitcom. After college, most people have 3 friends... that's about it. You don't have a disorder, and you don't need to drink to have friends. They're only drunks, after all, and won't make good friends. I know, trust me. :*

I can relate well not to the social disorder thing but to the trouble making friends, I dont drink and it seems like alot of people in our age group hit the bars alot. I would say join some clubs and try to find people with similiar interests. I dunno friends usually watch movies, eat, etc. kinda depends on interests.

I have a friend with Aspergers. We like to go to the movies and hang out at the mall sometimes. Buy some ice cream at the food court. The movies are the best because you don't have to talk at all, you're just watching other people talk on the screen! GOOD LUCK!

it depends on what your social disorder is. I would seek professional insight first. Normal friends usually share your interest. What do you like to do? Hopefully they enjoy at least some of the same things

Get rid of your boozing pals and join a gym or anything else that you might be interested in and make friends there. Once you do that you will find lots of things to do together. Main thing is to relax and be yourself.
