The fact is that Google loves numbers:

Google is named after a Googol, which is a 1 followed by 100 zeros. They didn't use the original spelling because someone made a mistake, which was fortuitous since googol.com was taken, but google.com was available.

Google's buildings are numbered 0, 1, e, pi, and phi; all of which have mathematical significance.

Google's first IPO raised $2,718,281,828, which is the product of "e" and $1 billion, where "e" is the base of the natural logarithm.

For their second public offering Google will sell 14,159,265 shares, which is the first 8 digits after the decimal point in pi (3.14159265)

How did they decide which colors to pick for the logo? Just a random pick?

Ever notice how the colors for Windows are red, green, blue and yellow? Look at your Start button for the Windows logo. I think Google used the same colors.

Red, Yellow and Blue are the primary colors when considering paint.
Red, Green and Blue are the primary colors when considering light. (Heard of RGB monitors or your TV screen?)

So it would be logical to combine these two to get:

G = blue
o = red
o = yellow

g = blue
l = green
e = red

As for order, I think it was just for aesthetic reasons and to avoid starting with red.

Whether abortion is murder or not is an opinion. But obviously you are too much of a close-minded liberal to see that. I am not very religious and I would repeal Roe v. Wade if it ever came up. The fact of the matter is that religious taxpayers should not be forced to fund organizations with which they disagree such as Planned Parenthood. As for marijuana and gay marriage, the party will soon evolve on those issues, most likely liberalizing their positions in the coming years as the electorate shifts out of their favor. Plus, Obama's staunch opposition to the legalization of cannabis becomes more apparent with every passing moment. He is a ******* hypocrite. And if you think that liberals are consistent, then you must be smoking weed, because claiming to be for freedom, then implementing universal health care, public education, and entitlement programs like SS and Medicare is not freedom. Conservatives want more money in your pocket so that you can buy those things for yourself. And by the way, if you have so much of a problem with the conservative social positions, why don't you just become a libertarian? We are the only true consistent ones.

Now that you ask, i am taking a guess. They have chosen the 3 primary colours Red, Blue and Green, which can be mixed in different proportions to get different colours (as it happens in Colour TV). And then they have chosen the colour Yellow right at the middle of the visible spectrum electromagnetic radiation which we call light. Yellow is therefore at the middle of rainbow, remember?

So for G and O, they have choosen Blue and Red, two primary colours at the extreme ends of the spectrum in the decending order of frequency. Blue with its high frequency and Red with its low frequency. Then for another O they have the colour at the centre of visible spectrum, Yellow.
And then for G L E , the last three letters they have three primary colours Blue, Green and Red, again in the decending order of frequency.

Sounds likely, doesn't it?

PS- This is for 'sndgrl' whose answer follows mine and which i later noticed. I checked. We are both right. But in different ways.

If you consider additive mixture, R,G and B are indeed primary colours. And they are used in Colour TV tubes as i stated.

If you consider subtractive mixture (used in mixing paints) then R, Y and B are primary colours as you stated.
