Oasis of Freedom and Free Speech... kinda like the sound of that. But no that would tend to mean we are the ONLY source of freedom, which we are not. There are many countries in the world that are free.
What seperates us from the rest (at least in this respect) is that we believe that it is every human being's right to live in freedom. Where most of the other free countries think that non-free countries just can't handle being free, like somehow the people that live there are not quite as good as they are.

As was pointed out by another answerer even given the oppression of the post 9/11 bush Reich America is still a land of Liberty and Free Speech. Compared to the oppressive regimes of the (false religion of) Islam the US is unbelievably free! There is a growing faction of us who know what it takes to win the 'war on terror' and as soon as the wimp-@$$ bush is back in TX being Crawfords village idiot and a rightheous and benevolent FREELY ELECTED President is in place the Islam whackos will feel the power of the big pig!! The good news for all the followers of the false allah and the psychotic muhammed is all you have to do is bend over and squuuueeeeeeeeellllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, actually we are. We're not socialists, which allows anyone to profit and retain those profits to live a better life. We also have the freedom to live under an over pass if that is what we choose to do with our life.
Our freedom of speech is about average, but it's quickly becoming less than the norm due to PC attitudes. That is a real shame.

Very few places on earth have even a hint of free speech. Our neighbors Canada and Mexico both limit speech more than the Bush post 9/11 administration.

Take the PATRIOT ACT, by definition if you are against it you are UNPATRIOTIC, despite the fact that the act itself is unpatriotic and goes against the natural principles of Freedom. Oasis of free speech and freedom, nothing more than an illusion under the Bush administration.

authentic, authentic, and authentic. yet it truly is what freedom is all about, retaining jerks like those to have loose speech. I genuinely have met some Muslims (very few), in u.s. and Saudi Arabia (desolate tract hurricane), who're very respectable and non violent people. they are an exception to the norm. The overwhelming majority are racist, drooling psychopaths which will kill you for contaminating their soil which includes your ft. and those were our ALLIES. Such is the predicament of a loose u.s.. even as Israel doesnt have an analogous freedoms we've (they cant have the funds for to), they are not a socialist dictatorship. those of you who hate u.s./Israel, habit a medical attempt for me: A): flow to Israel stand on the line, and protest against the Israeli authorities or Judaism. possibly you'd be arrested, imprisoned, overwhelmed, then enable flow after 6 months with a nasty concepts-set. B): flow to the palestinian territory, and protest against the palestinian authorities or Islam. if you're fortunate, you may have your throat slit the position you stand on the line, and no one will bat a watch. in case you at the prompt are not so fortunate, you'd be tortured and slowly beheaded on the internet. and people ask your self why we are combating those jerks...

Offering a realistic answer... the US isn't the perfect oasis. We have our problems - economic and social discrimination.
But you have to admit, this is one of the few countries that offers the most opportunities.

Ive traveled extensively through out the world and have found your statement true. Now in some parts of the US you can say something to the wrong person and get your teeth knocked in but its not USUALLY by the police. :)
