I have a PC with Windows XP. When I try to copy a file to CD, I get a message that says that windows has encountered a problem. The message doesn't go into more detail. I've tried different brands of CD RW and even bought a new burner. Nothing has worked. I've seen numerous web sites where the same problem is discussed and solutions offered but so far nothing has worked. Anyone else had this problem?

I've run into a couple instances where the drivers for the CD RW needed to be updated in order to work under Win XP SP2. But I had one instance where I couldn't get an older drive to work at all. I downloaded http://deepburner.com/ the deepburner program and it worked fine. The interface is a little cryptic but it worked where others failed (Roxio, Nero)

Is it a USB?

I've had this problem with USB cd burners, and in fact have never had success with 3 different USB models!

Try an internal cd drive, see if that helps.
