math... 768kbps = 768,000 bits per seconds. 3Mbps = 3,000,000 bits per second. so, you're looking at about 4 times faster on the download side. Unless you are doing some intense online gaming, 768 is generally enough for most home users. But, 3 Megs sure is fun!!!

Well, when talking about broadband there is an important set of definitions.

K - usually refers to kilobytes, or 1000 bytes (1 byte is 8 bits).
Kbps - refers to kilybits, or 1/8 kilobytes, per second
Mbps - refers to megabits, or 1000 kilobits, per second

So, a 1.5Mbps connection is also a 192K per second (1.5/8 * 1000). DSL is, at it's base speeds these days, 1.5Mbps download speed, and between 256 and 768Kbps upload speed. 3Mbps is twice as fast as 1.5Mbps.

Also remember that due to overhead (the information telling data where to go and how) will use 20% of your speeds, so 1.5 really ends up being 1.2.

Hope that wasn't clear as mud. Cheers!

Fast, faster and fastest..
The higher the speed of your connection, the faster your pages load up and, when you're downloading things, the faster you get them..
Like, with 192k, you might have to wait 8 seconds for a page to load, with 768, you might have to wait 4, with 3mbps, probably almost instantaneously.

192K is 192 Kilobyte/ sec or 1.92 Mega bByte/sec
768kbps is 768kilobit/ sec or .768 Mega Byte/sec
3Mps is 3 Mega Byte/sec (fastest)

3 Mbps is 15 times faster than 192k and nearly 4 times faster than 768K in POTENTIAL SPEED.

Reality will depend on where your info is coming from and how fast they can send it to you.
