Well, your question is loaded. I don't think it is cool, but I also don't believe it makes a person sound ignorant.
Perhaps you were raised with a silver spoon in your mouth. Others, have been brough up by people that swore because that is society. Swearing in the Navy is a way of talking. Difficult to avoid.
The answer to your question is neither.

Cussing is not cool. And yes it sometimes makes a person sounds ignorant. But there is a time and a place for everything.

Ignorant! Can you imagine ordering a meal and the clerk says 'you f*n want f*n fries with that? Or in-flight the Captain comes on sounding like Howard Stern? Cussing for the sake of cussing makes you look vulgar and crude, and is usually associated with people who spend a great deal of time behind bars. Not a person you would trust with anything.
Nothing can sink a persons career faster than poor language skills. I know I wouldn't hire them

Generally speaking, it makes people sound ignorant. However, if used in moderation, swears can help make a REALLY strong point. If you say the "f-word" in ever sentence, no one will notice, and will probably just tune it out a little. But is an otherwise-restrained person who NEVER swears says the "f-word" in a sentence, they will REALLY get their point across.
So, my short answer: cussing makes you sound ignorant if its used constantly. If it is ONLY used for important emphasis, it is highly effective, a.k.a. cool.

ignorent, no. Cussing to me is just another way of explaining yourself. It just gets more attention therefor it is used alot. It gets people's attention. Cussing is vulgar, would be considered low class...now a days everybody uses it, thats why its on tv, movies, radio, almost everything. Cuss if you want, cuss when its needed cause if i cut my arm of with a power saw, im not going to say "oh my goodness, my arm has been completely ablivorated" no im going to say "holy ****"

I dont think it makes people look ignorant. They cannot find another word to use in its place, that is it. But, I think cursing all the time prohibits your vocabulary and brings a image of "ghetto" to women.

I think incessant cursing makes one sound ignorant, but if you are cursing to make a point then thats fine just dont get in the habit of it.

it appears to indicate an intellectual blockage. not that the person isn't potentially intelligent, only that they have trouble accessing the proper terminology to express their true feelings. the result? constipation of thought manifesting in easily accessible foul language.
and yes, i'm sure there are a few who think that under the right circumstances, it's just hilarious.
like me.

it makes them sound ignorant. They can't seem to put up a good agurment so they call the person something dirogitory in hopes to win
