You must use an A/C evacuation station! It is illegal to vent freon into the atmosphere. Plus, when you evacuate a system, you loose a certain amount of A/C oil, and without using the proper equipment, you'll have no idea how much to put back in. The system will also need to be vacuumed after opening it to the atmosphere to remove any moisture in the system ( water boils in a vacuum) and is VERY harmful to A/C components. Then the system must be charged with the proper amount of freon and oil to work the most efficiently. And this is not to mention how dangerous it is to "vent" refrigerant, if any gets on you, it will freeze your skin instantly. IMHO, this is a job you should leave to a trained professional.

It never seems to amaze me that true know nothings have all the answers.
OK if you want to evacuate your air you need a evacuate pump.
This pump pulls out all the old freon and air from the system
It will put in a negative 20-30 vacuum
You connect this pump to the low pressure side, NOT THE HIGH SIDE AS THE OTHER FOOL SAID)
The low side has 30-50psi ( higher depending one the temp outside, the high side has 300-500 psi so don't even mess with the high side( what a fool)
If after you close the gages and the vacuum drops to 0 do not add freon as there is a leak.

I know of no way of evacuating the system and I have been doing this 35 years and an ASE in air conditioning.
You can rent these pumps if you can find a place to rent it from
My advice is get it done by a professional and don't mess with something you don't understand and you could injure yourself in the process.
Thanks for your question and hope this helps in some way

You can jumper the low pressure switch then start the car and use your compressor by bleeding her out at the high pressure port. just depress the valve like you were letting air out of an old tire. Don't do this for long because of compressor damage possibility-- you also must understand that this isn't nearly as complete as doing It properly.
