when it's rainy season, it seems that mildew grow almost instantly, even over night. how do i prevent it, or even kill it if they're already on something, without buying expensive cleaners?

Wash the pillows with some bleach. The beds, I doubt you will ever effectively get rid of it. But try steam cleaning.

you can wash and dry some pillows in your washer and dryer. but, a mattress would be difficult to clean. Make sure you are using a mattress protector that has a barrier for mildew and dust mites. it should prevent mildew from forming on your mattress. They also make zipper mildew and dust mite protectors for pillows.

I live in a very humid area though and i do not have a mildew problem with any of my pillows or mattresses. I would get a product called "damp rid" and keep plenty of it in your bedroom. You can usually find it in the laundry or cleaning supply section of like wal-mart or something. It may help soak up the moisture out of the air in your bedroom.

If youre getting mildew on your mattress and pillows, it must also be elsewhere in your room and that is not very healthy. Maybe you need an air purifier too.

You can buy pillow covers that are hypoallergenic and prevent mildew and dust mites. I read somewhere that after 5 years, half a pillow's weight is dust mites and other things. Gross.

They have them at places like Linens n things

Bleach does kill mildew, but I don't know how you can use that on beds.
