I'm not sure what a baking soda soak would do but when I have had an allergic rash like yours, I soaked in an oatmeal bath. I added a packet of super fine ground oatmeal, made by Aveeno, to the tub. I have also used a similar product made by Walgreens. I soaked a couple of times with the oatmeal bath products and my itching was relieved. Be careful, though! My tub became super slippery each time I used the oatmeal -- really, hang on to the sides of your tub when you get out and rinse the tub well before you shower.
I found this recipe if you want to make it at home. It says that it's for babies, but it works for adults, too!

You should use an oatmeal bath; when I was little and had chicken pox my mom made me an oatmeal bath to relieve the itch.
To make an oatmeal bath at home; You can use a blender to grind a cup of oatmeal. IF you don't have a blender, don't worry about it. You can use instant oatmeal but don't use the flavored kind..
You then put the oats into the tub while the water is running. Use your hand to stir the water thoroughly. The tub may be slippery so be careful.. Soak for about a half hour.
People use oatmeal baths for things like poison ivy, chicken pox, dry skin, shingles, etc.

oatmeal! or an oatmeal based bath soak. But you really can just use oatmeal.
Add about 2 cups to a coolish bath and swish it around. Soak for 15 mins or so. You should notice a difference immediately.

Try soaking in a tub of oatmeal. Aveeno makes really good stuff. I've always found it to be helpful for dry, itchy skin.

Damn fool ya, you're bathing too much. You're taking the natural oils out of your skin. All you need do, honey child, once a week for 15 min., you slip into a tepid tub with 3 cups of honey, half cup of half and half, an egg, a dash of vinalla, and a really good dash ofcaster oil. You sittin there and let it ooze into ya pores. Ans ya'll be a smooth as Billy Bob Martain the time he talked Jack "Big Daddy" Akerson out of his 62 caddy
