Why do so many Republicans seem so irate/threatened by both Democrats and the idea of "liberalism".

Democrats don't seem to be so wound-up by Republicans, even when they don't agree with what they say.

If you could write a sentence or two I'd be grateful because as a outsider this is something that I don't quite understand. Please add your political affiliation to your answer (i.e: Rep. or Dem. etc)

I'm Independant: Reps See the DEMS as WEAK on fighting Terror and also believew dems don't take terror seriously almost like if they pretend everything is ok terror will simply go away. As for Dems not being wound up LOL Dems are STILL Bitching about teh 2000 elections and the 2004 and are allready gearing up to ***** at teh 2006 ones. What you'll find it ALL boils down to is that the DIE HARDS in BOTH parties care alot more about there DAM political party than they do about America. They'd sooner Shoot down each others good ideas than let the other party get credit for them.

Hmmm you are either blind or just very one sided here.

Yes Republicans are irate about an entire political party that is acting in treasonous ways. Politics has ALWAYS stoped at the water's edge. You could debate all you wanted in the country, but particularly during war time you were Americans first and foremost.

Now purely for political reasons the Democrats are playing politics with the war effort they even go outside the country and bad mouth the President.

Keep in mind your even beloved John "I fought for my country, before I fought against it" Kerry voted for the war. So what would he have done different, likely very little, except that maybe (God forbid) the moment it started getting hard he would have had us run away, like Clinton did.

The Republicans are not perfect, they have done many things that bother me, but the Dems are not even in the same world. They are so blinded by their hatred of Bush and the fact that they are not in power, they can't think straight.

You are obviously young, so your perspective is warped, you probably believe this is how it always was in politics, it is not.

The last 10-15 years has seen a dramatic swing in the behavior of the Democratic party and it has not been good.

lifelong liberal. these americans threatened by their own american values are people who have bought this argument from their preachers and bosses, without realizing they're victims of a propaganda campaign designed to roll back our great advances in labor rights, women's rights, gay rights, human rights!!!! and prevent our progression to socialized medicine and free university educations.

They are the victims of our warlords. they even chant that democrats are supposed to go along with bush's crimes. they did, far too many times already. Americans are not supposed to say war crimes are okay if our guys did it - We're supposed to say war criminals, gangsters like bush are traitors to our nation and ideals.

Kerry was a hero during Vietnam, in a way he could not be in this century - telling the truth to and about power - because he wanted power too much himself.

Also, I think religion is a huge part of it. Republicans who are fundamentalists have got to know on some level that they are buying into lunatic fairy tales. To protect against this, they attack liberalism, as if the scientific method is political. The world is a scary place to conservatives - they've built this weird story to explain it and anyone who threatens their belief in their own story is reviled.

This whole two party system is nothing more than a big mind game the Illuminati are playing with us, deceiving us into believing the election system is honest, and that we live in a constitutional democracy. They control all governments on earth, and install whoever they desire in power.

Not either- Independent! Repubs want control and everyone to be alike so of course it bothers them... Dems want all to get a fair shake no matter what they're like (inc.repubs)... Both have extremes and make lots of mistakes... When you're Dem you HAVE to vote Dem- Repubs HAVE to vote Repub... Independents vote for whoever they want... I prefer to vote for a person not a party.

It's a strategy that has worked to cement party loyalty among Republicans. Karl Rove is supposed to be the main architect.
