Does affirmative action pretaint to mainly just African Americans or does it include all other minorities? Also, sometimes women are considered a minority, so would an employer be able to use affirmative action for a white woman?

wow. i could go on and on about this. but i will be uncharasteristically brief. affirmative action was initially put in place to assist all "under represented" classifications in the work place. the primary beneficiary of affirmative action has always been white women (contrary to what most are willing to accept and acknowlege). all women were UNDER REPRESENTED when AA was established, so naturally, as the highest percentage of the woman population in america, white women had the highest benefit. over the years, the practice has evolved to be associated with ethnic minorities, WHO ARE UNDER REPRESENTED in that particular area.

the main overlooked principle of affirmative action, is the under representation. there will be no affirmative action, for example, for Asian Indians in a medical or program because they are not under represented in that area. whereas, some law firms may instititue AA for Asian Indians b/c they are under represented in law (actually all Asians are).

so that's the true concept of AA. it's not "supposed" to be strictly racial. but unfortunately, it has ended up being interpreted that way.

Yes,
as the supreme court ruled, race and gender can be considered in choosing the diversity of labor pool.

it is not quotas, this is a lie kicked around. Women, white or otherwise have been kept out of positions of power.

For example the major class action suit against wall mart,
specifically passing women over for promotions..
