Always wash cotton cloths in cold water and rinse in cold water. You can pre-treat any stain but you still have to wash with cold water settings to avoid shrinking. Once washed shake your items out and hang to dry never use a dryer for cotton you don't want to shrink.

First, make sure they are 100% cotton. A lot of fabrics have spandex in them these days and will shrink in the dryer unless set on a cooler setting. Most cotton will shrink some unless it reads "pre-shrunk" on the label.
Don't wash white cotton with dark colors and don't use bleach on cotton until you make sure it's not mixed with other fabric types (spandex)
Might turn dingy or yellow.

Wash in cold water on gentle cycle. Hang to dry. You can put them in the dryer to fluff them after they've air dried overnight but use the cool or gentle cycle of the dryer. I do this with my cottons and they don't shrink very much.

do not put clothes that are high percent cotton in the dryer. spin them out in the washer and put shirts over a chair big or small depending on your size. let it air dry. goes quiker with a fan over it. or half dry it and do the same to make it even quicker. take wet pants and put them on when they are still damp. let them air dry for the rest it will keep most of the shape.

Wash in cold water and never dry in the dryer. Lay flat on a wire rack and gently pull on the edges of the garment to pull out wrinkles and back into the right shape. If you have to dry in the dryer, put in on the FLUFF (no heat) mode and don't let it dry all of the way.
