People can be rude for a number of reasons. Perhaps they're just having a bad day, a stressful situation at home, perhaps someone close to them just died, they could be depressed, have brain damage, or a mental disorder. People can also be rude to you because they're jealous of you or what you have. Hence, when people are rude to you, don't think it's something you did. It very likely could be something wrong with them or something wrong in their lives.

I think it's because alot of parents in the past few generations have been focusing way too much on their children. I think it has to do with parents overcompensating for their own perceived inadequacies. They're allowing their children to become the center of the universe and so children are growing up with an 'instant gratification complex'. The Veruca Salt syndrome. That, and television. We watch everything in the world through this little box in our homes and so we never have to think about consequences and reactions for more than 20 seconds or so at a time. Everything is disingenuous and surreal. When we actually do have to interact with other people it's done with the television mindframe. As though the other person is in a sitcom or studio audience.

It can be a combination of things, all stemming from a persons personality. It could have taken place early in their lives or later, but it was a result of the way they were treated or reacted. At some point it must have been ok for that person to react that way, and so they continued to act that way because it is how they know how to react to those situations. Even though they have control over the way they act, it is not entirely their fault, they were just allowed to do it enough that they think its ok.

What do you consider to be rude? Is it a personal preference or an accepted cultural norm? Because you may be rude to another and not even be aware of it. Some may even find your question to be rude.

I think it's the result of feeling inferior... so to feel superior, they are rude and impolite and attempt to make the other person feel lower than they are.

Its human nature to be compulsive, selfish, and impatient. I believe that If you cannot control these behaviors and constantly give in to them; then you are perceived as rude.
