Hi, a few friends and I are thinking about starting an interstate trucking company, but i've heard that the market is slowing down. Any thoughts anyone??

Thanks

The price of fuel is terrible, but I hardly see the market slowing down. Americans still have to live and some of them live to shop! I bet you could get some good deals on trucks right now though!

No, it is not a good time to start a trucking business (or be an o/o). Fuel prices and maint. take a BIG chunk out of the profits not to mention all of the other overhead cost that a company incurs. Rates are low and the D.O.T. regulations are still a problem for many.

Been there, done that, sold the truck .....

trucking is good if you run in your own.dont lease your truck with the company...you can get a load by subcribing like get loaded and u'll see different loads you can pick a load which pays good and some of them have a quickpay.

Depends on u.

Gas is going up.
Rail will pick up even more for longhaul stuff.

Trucking is becoming more corporate so independents might have some problems here..

i really think that you should wait for the winter time. see when the sales start the freight starts to move. the summer really doesn't have much work for us right now. until winter....
