Will he always be tied to Ohio State?

Here's why I ask.
My friend is a big Notre Dame football person and I am a HUGE Ohio State Person. Whenever I mention that OSU beat ND at the Fiesta Bowl, all she talks about is how Maurice Clarett is a criminal, and how Troy Smith (OSU's QB) took money from a booster. I just want to know when Clarett's name will no longer make people think that it was all because OSU people are trashy criminals who don't teach their students morals. But actually, Ohio State is a wonderful university! Just because every college has its mess-ups, does not give a person the right to critisize it every chance she gets.

You can imagine how elated I felt when OSU beat ND in the Fiesta Bowl. I was seriously going WILD. :]

Clarett is like a scar. He will always be there, but after time, you'll start to notice it less and less. The guy has no one else to blame but himself, and his fall from grace (and boy, what a fall that was) was entirely his own doing. Dont worry about him hurting OSU's reputation too much anyways, every school has their own scar.

OSU is a great school who gave Maurice Clarett the opportunity to shine and make something of himself. Unfortunately, Mr. Clarett is an ignorant criminal who will always make us wonder what could have been. It is really a shame that he couldn't stay focused and understand the consequences of his actions. That being said, I really don't feel sorry for him.

By the way, I am not a huge OSU fan or anything, but I do love college footbal and have a great deal of respect for tradition-rich universities like Ohio State, Texas, Notre Dame, Alabama, etc.

This too will pass. He will be gone and mainly forgotten in a few short years. Ohio State had the QB Art Schleister who was run out of the NFL for being a gambleholic. That was probably a bigger scandal than the Clartett thing. Lots of teams have goofballs and most people would not blame Ohio State. They are not anywhere near Nebraska or Miami, not even close.
Tell your Notre Dame fan to get a life. I hate it when people bring something up like that, something that is irrelevent to play on the field. Now if he had used steroids or something to cheat ON the field, that would be a different story.

Clarett went to Ohio State but they didn't turn him in to the person that he is - he was already that way before he stepped on campus at Ohio State - We're also talking about athletes, who think that the world revolves around them and they always have everyone kissing their asss their who lives because they can run fast or throw a baseball 95 mph or score touchdowns on the field - Tell your friend that Notre Dame might want to recruit a few guys like Clarett so their program might win a national title this century! It's important to recruit good people but it's more important to recruit good athletes

I am a Michigan fan (we will beat you this year) but anyway I did a term paper on Clarett and why I think he was RIGHT in going to the NFL. Since their were other scandals going on at OSU at the time he will connected. Andy Geiger had his fair share of problems. It won't go away for a while, cause at U of M we still have talk about the Ed Martin/Chris Webber/Jalen Rose/other players/ problem.

As long as we have Tressel around, we're going to have these problems. He's as dirty as they come and still has not got serious about discipline.
