good question!! first off without sounding condescending i think that the perverbial redneck tends to be uneducated and naive. this usually sets the stage for slick politicians to easily manipulate those people by using scare tactics and sound bites instead of factual data. the Republicans have been masterful @ this the last 20 years and that is why the south and most rednecks have become republicans. the Churches have also been instrumental in signing on to this tactic as well, since those same people that trust the republicans also trust those hypocritical preachers that use religion to drum up more money in the collection plates. the republicans promise to not tax the churches as long as they keep the congregations voting conservative. both sides win while the country goes down the tubes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The republicans have been successful in pandering to southerners ...with emotionally charged issues...and to an extent many do agree with.however at the end of week politics is who gets what,when ,and where..in other words people above all else when voting for a particular party should vote their economic reality.
This is where the republicans are exposed has the "give to the rich and the hell with you party" ...that they truly are!
ALL others issues are really secondary when you allow the few to govern the many.

Most are conservative Democrats as well as Republicans. And, some are neither. The rednecks serve a good purpose as we can measure our ideas and solutions to problems through the extremes they represent.

Because , as the census shows, many, if not most of the states that voted for Bush have an average lower IQ than his 91! Boy we have a stupid country!
Almost all of the rednecks come from states that have lower IQ's than Bush!
And as Nanci Griffith would say, they are" 2 blades shy of a sharp edge" and "Republican is how you vote!"

What do you mean via ultraconservatives? in case you mean Constitutionalists like Ron Paul, they seem to be a danger to the globalist/New international Order time table. people like Ron Paul embarrass mainline Republicans via exposing their lack of concepts, and their willingness to promote out. so long because the Republican party is managed via globalists, CFR sorts, the Conservatives are a thorn of their part. The Republican party has 2 ideas: go back to their roots of restricted, Constitutional authorities (pre-FDR), or proceed to be a carbon replica of the Democrat party and fade into oblivion.
