Read Grisham's The Broker. You'll love it.
Try Stephem King's Christine, too.

A good thriller with lots of drama and suspense is "The Stand" by Steven King. "Misery" is also good and very suspenseful, but not a whole lot of drama (be sure not to finish it night, I made that mistake). But by far, THE best, most suspenseful book I've ever read is "House of Leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski. It's a truly modern novel, with, depending on the edition, either the word "house" always in blue or "minotaur" and crossed out passages in red. Be warned thought, it's not a book to be taken lightly. I've read it 3 times, the last being in 2003, and I'm still awed by it. I think you'll also find that it has enough drama to suit your needs.

Anything by Leslie Glass (April Woo series) about a cop in NYC
Julie Smith (Skip Langdon series) set in New Orleans (before Katrina)
"Intensity" by Dean Koontz, I usually dont like Dean Koontz, but this one scared me to death
ANYTHING by Elizabeth George, she is fantastic and never misses. (Thomas Lynley and Barbara Havers series)
Anything by Stephen King, Pet Sematary, the Shining, Needful Things, Green Mile, etc.
Tess Gerritsen "Harvest", "The Apprentice"
Tami Hoag "A Thin Dark Line" be careful of her earlier stuff it's all that romance and crap
Kathy Reichs "Bare Bones"
Hope this helps!!! Email me if you want more, I know I am forgetting some

I almost soiled my pants reading this one, it is called DeathHunter. It is science fiction and written by Ian Watson and published by St Martins Press. This is what the cover says; Jim Todhunter is one of the elite-a Death guide, helping the citizens of a peaceful future world meet the ends of their lives in harmony. When the stability of the house is shattered by deliberate murder-an unthinkable crime- Todhunter becomes entangled in a fantastic plan to trap Death itself. And what lies beyond death is stranger than anyone imagined.....
Publishers weekly wrote "Intriguing and intricately worked out".
I am not a scary book lover but even though it was scaring the bejeezes out of me I could not put it down.
