I know this has been answered before but to my experience "Gorilla Glue" is my best solution. It is a strong adhesive, using sparingly because it expands. I would suggest this brand over "Super Glue" due to the fumes the latter gives off and ease of clean up. You mentioned you wanted to mend a broken ceramic cup, I assume it is for display or used to hold other objects now. I would not want to use it for drinking after putting it back together. Of course, the structural integrity of the object, after being put together with adhesive, is not as rigid as it used to be.

You should never use the cup again, as it could break with hot coffee in it. If you want it for sentimental reasons, go to the craft department in any store and they will have glue for repairing china. (they type in the green tube works best, but can't think of the name.............something cement)
