A) they're scared. B) Lots of GIRLS get creeped out when guys take an interest to them, because girls rarely get asked out by guys they are really interested in. This doesn't mean you are like that, but many girls now adays are.

Like many unexplainable quirks of human nature, men actually have some stupid but prevalent shortcomings in the social department. Thank God women respond either way I think.
But it is a fact of life I guess that both women and men have to protect their pride and their egos, and this is one way men go about it. But we really don't know until later in life that women also prefer just plain honest face-to-face.
go figure

Because he is shy and does not want to be rejected in person by you saying "no". He will ask his friend what you said. If it was a favorable answer, he will then ask you out. If
it was an unfavorable answer, he won't have to be personally embarrassed, especially in front of his friends.

The thing is, if a man is truly interested in you he'll talk to you. If he has to send one of his friends then hes probably not that intereseted or really shy. Now, if he has to send a friend to talk to you then you have to ask yourself, "will he be able to talk to me on his own ever?"

Because we don't want to hear the rejection first-hand...
Most of the time, we know it's coming, and we just don't want to hear it because we know that it is coming...
