TV and movies are our modern mythology. I say Xena gets to be the official name.

All in favor say "Aye yi yi yi yi!"

Aye yi yi yi yi. The 10th planet should be called Xena.
To free speech...if you can be tacky, so can I. That dumb blonde sidekick, your words not mine, is probably 10 times hotter than you. And Xena (Lucy Lawless) was the hottest ever. Six feet of pure woman.

I still am under the beleif it should continue with roman gods. in the 1930s, cash was a mythology, and people needed it, but we didnt call pluto "lootsack" now did we? Xena is just some viking warior that had no influence on the world...and I pray to the world that Xena only remains its nickname, instead of the official name.

And the person who wrote that if a comet can be named something other than in mythology, comets arnt planets. They are snowballs. They arnt at all the size of planets. And there are like a zillion that have been named after who discovered them...so Xena should be out of the picture. And who the heck is gabrielle anyway!?

there is an official IAU planet naming rule. All planets MUST be named after a god of creation or underworld in mythology. Xena violate this rule. There is a high possibility it will be Persephone/ Proserpina, the wife of Pluto in mythology, because the discoverer of Xena M.Brown say he's gonna propose this name to the IAU on a tv show.

"Xena". To Hades (Greek God of the underworld) with conventions for naming planets. Xena is perfect. And Gabrielle for the moon.

If they can name a comet "Hale-Bopp" why not a planet after the Warrior Princess.

Now, I disagree with Charon and Ceres getting a promotion.

One shares an orbital field with thousands of smaller objects that have more mass in total that Ceres.

The other circles a planet, it's a moon.

If Charon is a planet, then what about Luna and some moons of Jupiter and Saturn?
