Look at the Israelis,the Israelis soldiers are proud to be sent to the frontlines to fight and die 4 their country,i am wondering if those singapore citizens will also be same, as they always claim themselves to be, or will they flee singapore quickly,the day their singapore fights a big war, paying lip service only, during peacetime, and being politically correct only,in order to get their promotions and higher salaries, more benefits, more perks from their Government , during peacetime,but will quickly flee their their country,the day their singapore fights a big war,and only then will we know the truth,correct or not???
and only then will we know that most of them have been lying,telling lies,liars,lyng,all along,only then will the whole world know the truth abt them,correct or not?

What will happen:
1) The PRs will go back to their "original" countries.
2) The rich ones who have already acquired properties in foreign lands will book a flight there.
3) The rich ones with no properties will also book a flight elsewhere.
4) The poorer one lan-lan will have to send their sons or husbands to fight because they have got not enough to book a flight elsewhere and they have got too many to lose if they leave. (Example: the $1000 sofa they bought 5 yrs ago when they strike 4D)
However,I thought this is the usual situation everywhere. Patriots are those people who have got nowhere to go and stuck in a lan-lan situation. Not to mention,we are a "Tiny Red Dot in the Green Sea". Even if we move away from the frontline and towards the inland,the farthest we could go is Bt. Timah Hill?

Singaporean are well-known for their patrioticism. tat was the result from a survey many years back. But when they are asked whether they would die for their country, most answers are negative.
Who knows? There are no real big war. Some people talk better than action.
I live in Singapore , and have seem lots of selfish acts too, like the other answerer said.
Moreover, u think the young guys are enjoying their NS days? They simply don't have a choice. Some even said tat 2 & 1/2 yrs is a 'waste' of their time, in terms of their careers.
They know they are 'small' and might be bullied by the 'big' one one day, so defence becomes an important thing must 'do'.
So, sorry young men, u must go to NS, unless u give up S'pore citizenship..!!!

I believe that most Singaporean men will fight for Singapore. If a war comes, those who will fight will be those that stay behind. History has proven that we can and will fight for Singapore. The question is however, if a big war broke out, would we be able to last so long? By that I mean months. But in any short term wars, yes, Singapore will be victorious!

of coz! we cant be sitting there while our enemis screw our asses right? the Israelis and Muslims had centuries of animosity which therefore led to hate and war. In Singapore we dont see ourselves fighting coz we do not have enemies and can you imagine singapore going to war anytime soon?. Its been peace so far that war is infathomable given the efficiency of the government and the peace loving nature of our people. Being peaceful and sucessful diplomatically doesnt mean Singaporeans are soft and cowardly. I think the fact that this question is posed shows that peace in singapore is taken for granted here and peole have starting to doubt themselves and others of their moral integrity. I am extremely confident that Singaporeans would stand up against whatever obstacles which may come.

Not tested yet, but come the time when their services are needed, I'm sure the Singapore NS guys and the reservists will do anything to protect their country and loved ones, just as most MAN will do.

Comes the war,Singaporeans will be fighting till the end cause I don't think they will just sit by and get fired or bomb by the enemies.We have the Army to fight in the frontline.We have the Police Force to upkeep the peace in the country.And we have the SCDF to be around in the case of destruction. Comes the war,all of them will be in action....trust me.History tells you that Singaporeans have never given up!

I think ultimately when the test comes, we shall, despite all the negative talk and complaints we have now. After all, when one is called to duty, one has to think of the family, friends and treasured things in life to protect. And all these things are here. Nobody shall do the fighting for us and nobody shall take us in either.

Singapore's military is for mainly defensive purpose. I don't want our military to be as aggressive as the Israelis. I am sure our NS guys will defend Singapore if it is threatened. I don't want them to attack another nation.

i don't they so, i think they couldn't be compared with soldiers from other countries that are willing to die for their country. i live in singapore and have observed the people. most are selfish, some are not even bother to help if someone is in trouble,example:everyday i always see this old man in a wheel chair in his way to the market. he has trouble pushing his wheelchair especially when crossing the road and nobody even dare to help him push the chair. so even though i have trouble carrying my groceries myself, i will still help him to his destination. some people just look as if it is embarrasing to help strangers,
