Don't ever to be afraid to ask your parents for help. I know that sometimes asking for help from a parent may seem overwhelming. I have two teenagers and I know how difficult it is to talk to them. Just bring it up. Tell them that you think that you might be depressed. See what they say. If you need some help telling them, talk to a friend or someone that you trust. Its ok to be depressed.

It's hard for parents to believe their child is depressed.I hope I don't sound like a broken record on here, because I say this a lot but.....Write them a letter.Explain why you feel you are depressed and the next steps you want to take, like seeing a doctor.Give them a few details. If you decide to go to the doctor, they actually have tests you can take to find the level of your depression.
Writing it down helps put things in perspective for both sides.I hope this helps and that you get the help you need.â¥
P.S. feel free to contact me,I'll help if I can.

Tell them you've tried to think your way out of it, but it persists, so maybe it is a chemical imbalance. It's not a thought process, it's something in the brain. It has nothing to do with happiness or unhappiness, it is a different beast. Ask that you see a doctor at the very least, they'll try to get you back into balance. If you don't find a way to fix it now, it might just become a part of who you are, and that wouldn't be what you would choose for yourself. It's not a personality flaw, it 's chemicals in the brain.

Just sit them both down, and tell them, "I am depressed," and tell them that you think you should go get checked out by a doctor, to maybe get something to help your depression. Good Luck!

Say you don't undestand why you've been feeling down lately and you would like to talk to a professional about it. I was around 12 and FORWARDLY told a parent I needed help- he just ignored me. I hope your parents are more attentive and sensitive to what you tell them. Good Luck!

If you do not exactly want to come out and say it, I would write them a letter. I did that once to my dad because I felt I was being mistreated by my stepmother, and after I gave him that she changed her tune.

you should ask them if they think you are... and let them feel you want them to help you... involve them...but only to the extent you can deal with.... and explain that to them...that way they know whats happening and wont feel like your afraid to talk to or go to them for help.....comunication is a great thing....promotes understanding...
