I noticed that with like a week of practice, Leinert will be playing this weekend. Isn't this very unusual to put a QB in a game after only having spent 1 week with an NFL team?

What are some other examples (if they exist) of QBs being rushed into a game with little practice like this?

Can anyone actually answer the question here? I am wondering if there are any other examples...ever...of a QB playing a game after only a week in the NFL. Name just one example...thats it. I am not wondering if he is ready, i am wondering if its been done before.

Hate to sound like a jerk, but Leinart has no one to blame but himself. He could have had plenty of experience under his belt if he had just signed a contract and gotten in camp about 2 weeks earlier.

Besides, its the pre-season, these games dont count. Teams like to play around with their shiney new toys they got in the off-season and draft since it wont matter anyways.

And for an example, any rookie QB being named the starter that doesnt have the last name of Marino or Roethlisberger has struggled, it's just a part of the game. You're going to need A LOT more than 1 week of practice to succeed in the NFL, especially at the QB position.

You forget Leinert was part of 2 different Arizona mini camps prior to regular camp starting so he should be family enough with the system to play a few series.

I just found that out too I think is kind of odd since he just signed and hasn't had any real practice time with the team. But its Greens deal. I wouldn't expect him to look particulary impressive like Cutler did last week. He hasn't had any time at all.

they want him to start playing as soon as possible so he doesnt suk wen the season starts. He also probaly wants to play because after the game Kurt Warner just had last week the starting spots on the line. Thats also why he quickly signed after the cardinals 1st game.

Well he has had plenty of time to learn the offense and learn the plays. Now all he has to do is get in sync with his receivers and get back to football related activities. I think he will be fine.

In preseason it's no big deal. Preseason is for seeing how player play also to give new player more adjusted to the wat the pro play. You can only do so much in practice.

He can't do any worse than the two stiffs they have (Warner and Navarre).
