The man must ask: "What would your brother say?"
Let's say the correct way is "this way" and the incorrect way is "that way"
The truthful brother would tell the man that the lying brother would say "that way"
The lying brother knows that the truthful brother would say "this way" and lies about it, claiming that the truthful brother would say "that way"
Thus, if he asks either brother "what would your brother say", he must take the path opposite their answer.

The correct question is;

"If i were to ask your brother which is the path to my destination, which way would he tell me to go?"

You cant ask, 'what would your brother say?' That doesnt lead to any answer at all as it is an open question.

If you ask that question then go the opposite way.

You also could ask

"If i were to ask your brother which is NOT the path to my destination, which way would he tell me to go?"

In this case you would go the way they tell you to.
