youve all seen the commercials where a girl uses a shaving gel or pimple cream then goes out on a date, or with a guy. Dont you think that sends the message that we only do this for the guys... its not like we do all this for the guys, what do you think?

You do all of that because you care about your appearance. Appearance being how you appear to other people, not just male or female but everybody. It is illogical to say that you take care of yourself without caring about how others see you.

Imagine yourself on a desert island with a cache of skin care products. Would you use the products or would you stop caring since there would be nobody around to judge you?

The commercials are just trying to snag girls who are not feeling very confident with guys..that is why they use the dating scenario. Most girls *and most guys* take care of themselves in order to attract the opposite sex. =)

The media is predominantly male, case in point: Who wants to go dancing through a field of daisies or jump on a trampoline while you are on your period? I shave my legs because if I don't, I feel icky. I use face wash because I hate how my face feels when it is greasy.

Yeah, definitely. That's why we shave our legs, get our nails done, and wear makeup, too.

No, we do it because of the standards that society sets.

I am getting tired of how women are always being expressed as sex symbols, and that sex sells everything (even tires)!
