The same way any other single mom does -- get your doctor to explain how to do it to you during his annual physical, and then you just need to talk him through it for a few times. This is as important as the breast self-exam for girls -- and should be done monthly.

um....why does an 11 year old need to be concerned about this? in any case, the best thing to do is for the mom to tell the son that he should be familiar with the way that his testicles look and feel, and that he should immediately tell her if there is any change in that situation. when asked why, the mother should reply that is simply for health reasons, and that there's no reason to be concerned, its simply a situation that he needs to be aware of.

You don't. You go to a doctor, get a pamphlet and give it to your son. Besides, I think he's too young to worry about testicular cancer.
